Blue Economy

The Oceans’ Committee identifies, incubates and promotes initiatives and projects that bring awareness and solutions to the key impacts in the ocean’s biodiversity due to climate-change; extreme use of fish stocks; and the inappropriate waste disposal that ends up in the oceans.

Our main goal is to enable people to become agents of change for the preservation of ocean’s biodiversity through their consumers’ behaviors on land and sea. In addition, we support scaling up start-ups in this field and the access to financing tools.

The oceans have been suffering dramatic degradation due to global warming, acidification, pollution, huge decrease of fish stocks and the destruction of mangroves.

The oxygen required for life on Earth in the correct proportion that exists in the air is supplied by the oceans, and not only by the forest as many people think. The solution requires integrated strategies, thinking about the issues from a systemic perspective.
